Last Sunday 25th July hundreds of local residents attended the Cheadle Muslim Association Fun Day held at the Mosque on Wilmslow Road in Heald Green. The annual event, where the CMA throws its doors open to everyone in the community, was opened by special guests Mark Hunter MP and Mayor of Stockport Cllr Hazel Lees.

On offer at the event were relay races, a children's magic show, a tour of the mosque, a bouncy slide, football and cricket and a range of stalls selling everything from milkshakes to jewellery and clothes - there was even a chocolate fountain for those with a sweet tooth.

As ever, the highlight of the day was the traditional tug-of-war between the relay race winners and the Mosque Committee. This year, the local police were drafted in and helped the committee win a famous victory.

Commenting, Mark said:

"I'd like to thank the Cheadle Muslim Association for once again putting on a fantastic afternoon's entertainment - it's been a real day to remember."

"This is the fifth year on the run I've been invited along as a special guest at this fantastic occasion, and it's also the fifth year on the run that I've attended!

"The Cheadle Muslim Association have always been outward looking and welcoming to people outside their community, and this contributes massively to their strong reputation in our local area.

"I always enjoy getting along to occasions such as this, as it gives people the opportunity to say hello and ask any questions they might have about local or national issues, and raise concerns. It is events like this that keep our wider community together and I congratulate the organisers on a splendid afternoon's entertainment."

If you are a resident of the Cheadle constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
