10 year old Ruby Cockburn's Christmas card design is on its way to thousands of homes right across the Cheadle Parliamentary constituency after winning local MP Mark Hunter's annual Christmas card competition.

Yesterday (17 December) Mark visited Moss Hey Primary School in Bramhall to present Ruby with a special House of Commons gift set in assembly and congratulate her on her colourful card design.

All primary schools in the constituency were invited to participate and a special prize was awarded for the best entry at each school in addition to the overall winner. Every child that took part also received a special certificate of commendation to congratulate them on their entry.

Commenting, Mark said:

"Ruby's smashing card design was chosen because of its colourfulness and cheerfulness.

"It was a really tough decision, with so many excellent designs to choose from our young starlets.

"Lots of MPs send a House of Commons Christmas card round, but the children always enjoy our Christmas card and I would much rather a child from my constituency have the opportunity to share his or her design with the tens of thousands of people across our area."

If you are a resident of the Cheadle constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
