Earlier this month, Cheadle MP Mark Hunter attended the launch of Advice Week (12-18th October 2009), a national week dedicated to raising public awareness of the importance of advice, to show support for the free advice sector.

Mr Hunter met with representatives from local advice agencies, and heard about the work they are doing to help their local communities and especially those struggling as a result of the recession.

At the meeting he praised the strength of Stockport's free advice organisations such as the Citizen's Advice Bureau and Age Concern, amongst many others.

Commenting after the event, Mark said:

"We're incredibly lucky to have the support and advice organisations we do in Stockport.

"It is vital that residents are aware of the help that is constantly available in our community, and the willingness of many local people to help others out of difficult situations.

"We must all show our continued strong support for this sector, and as many of our local people face challenging economic times we must understand the importance of these organisations to our area."

Citizens Advice Bureau Chief Executive David Harker said:

"We see on a daily basis how advice really can change people's lives. Even people at crisis point can find their situation swiftly improved if they seek advice.

"We would like to thank Mark Hunter MP for showing his support for the advice sector "

If you are a resident of the Cheadle constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
