Hazel Grove MP Andrew Stunell and Cheadle MP Mark Hunter joined forces this week with Breast Cancer Campaign to raise awareness of its award winning annual fundraising event "Wear it Pink" on Friday 30th October.

Andrew and Mark showed their support by wearing pink items this week in Westminster, and are now urging people at schools, colleges and businesses throughout Stockport to get their pink outfits on, and donate £2 each to help fund innovative world-class breast cancer research.

Last year, over one and a half million people took part in Wear it Pink, and the money raised went to help improve survival rates for breast cancer patients throughout the UK. One in nine women experience breast cancer in their lifetime, and 125 new cases are diagnosed each day.

Commenting after the event, Andrew Stunell said:

"Every year over 45,000 women and 300 men in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer, and like many others, I know people who have lost friends and family members to this dreadful disease.

"This fundraiser is cheap, and easy to get involved in, but can make a real difference to people's lives. I would strongly urge everyone in Stockport to "Wear it Pink" on October 30th, and help make a difference to the lives of thousands of people suffering from breast cancer."

Mark Hunter added:

"Raising funds for breast cancer is vital and we need to make sure that the world-class research teams that Breast Cancer Campaign support can keep carrying out their important work.

"The thousands of women diagnosed with breast cancer each year rely on the developments that are taking place in research labs across the country, and the support of the Stockport public is vital to allow this to continue."

If you are a resident of the Cheadle constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
