Cheadle MP Mark Hunter this week pledged his support to the British Armed Forces. Meeting with representatives from The Royal British Legion at the recent Liberal Democrat party conference in Bournemouth, he was presented with a copy of the Legion's manifesto for the next general election.

The manifesto sets out priorities for the next Government to improve conditions for the British Armed Forces past and present and their families. It encourages MPs to "do their bit" for Service Personnel and their families, the bereaved, veterans and dependants.

Commenting, Mark said:

"It was a pleasure to meet with The Royal British Legion at Lib Dem Conference. I have always fought the corner of the British Legion locally and fully recognise the importance of having a strong organisation to highlight the needs of our troops.

"I know that many people share my concern for our troops, and I am determined to do whatever I can to offer them the support they need and deserve."

Kevin Shinkwin, the Legion's Head of Public Affairs, said,

"We're really grateful to Mark Hunter for making the time to meet with us and listen to our concerns. Our message to every candidate standing at the general election is very simple: 'It's time to do your bit'.

"The entire Armed Forces family needs the support of politicians from all parties," he added. "Our manifesto outlines practical ways the next government can help, and we hope all the parties will give it serious consideration".

If you are a resident of the Cheadle constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
