Mark Hunter MP relaunches popular local restaurant

August 14, 2009 12:18 PM

Cheadle MP Mark Hunter, this week was part of the official re-launch of the Rainbow 88 Cocktail Bar and restaurant, a popular local Chinese eatery.

Mr Hunter, along with local Lib Dem Councillors (Dave Goddard, Stuart Bodsworth and Lenny Grice) and famous faces, including Tommy Docherty, Terry Christian, Bruce Jones (who played Les Batersby on Coronation Street) and team members from Stockport County FC, took part in the red ribbon ceremony which officially re-opened the newly refurbished restaurant in Cheadle Hulme Shopping Centre.

The owner, Linda Lee (who is a active member of the Cheadle Hulme Traders Association) has recently revamped her business so that, as well as a Chinese restaurant, Rainbow 88 now also offers a cocktail bar offering dim sum for customers who are looking for a lighter oriental snack. After the ribbon cutting ceremony the re-launch party offered champagne cocktails, a buffet, music both classical and modern, and a traditional Chinese Unicorn, brought all the way from Hong Kong, and ended with firecrackers to bring luck to a business.

Speaking after the event Mr Hunter said, "Rainbow 88 looks really wonderful - the refurbishment has given a new lease of life to an already successful venture. Both the food, setting and entertainment are really magnificent and I would really encourage people to come in and try it.

"The care and attention Linda has put into this venture is obvious. We're always encouraging people to shop and eat locally to keep our village centres alive and bustling and this new revamp will certainly encourage people inside.

"Linda is an active part of our local community playing a leading role in the Cheadle Hulme Traders Association which protects and encourages businesses in the area. Without these kinds of businesses our local economy would collapse and it was great to see so many local representatives and famous faces out supporting her and her popular restaurant. I'll definitely be returning!"
