Cheadle MP Mark Hunter attended the opening ceremony of the new Heald Green Health Centre this Saturday (8th August). Mr Hunter followed his predecessor Patsy Calton in campaigning to get the old dilapidated centre replaced by the new state of the art facility.

The new centre, which has been open to the public for a few weeks already, was officially opened by John Amaechi, the retired NBA Basketball player, now BBC sports broadcaster and Mark Hunter MP. The Primary Care Trust Chairman, Mike Greenwood, greeted the guests at the opening ceremony and Mr Amaechi and Mr Hunter also said a few words to mark the event.

Commenting after the opening Mr Hunter said, "I'm absolutely delighted that the residents of Heald Green finally have the health centre that they deserve.

"One of the best parts of my job is being involved in bringing new facilities to the local area. Heald Green has had to cope with only temporary health facilities for several months now and this new centre will ensure that the local residents now have access to an excellent new building and top ranking health services.

"Next on my agenda is Cheadle Hulme, which also desperately needs an upgrade of the health centre at Smithy Green. I shall be working hard to ensure that Cheadle Hulme residents can benefit from the same level of services as we see here in Heald Green today."

If you are a resident of the Cheadle constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
