Students from the Covenant Christian School meeting Mark in Parliament

Mark Hunter, MP for Cheadle constituency this week welcomed the Covenant Christian School to Parliament.

Pupils from the Covenant Christian School, which is based in St Andrew's Church in Cheadle Hulme and in Heaton Moor, were taken on a personal tour by Mr Hunter of the Houses of Parliament, including the House of Commons and House of Lords. Mr Hunter also spent some time with the school children answering their questions on a wide range of topics from life as an MP, to the expenses scandal and public transport.

Mr Hunter also secured tickets for the school to allow them to watch the debate in the House of Commons, including questions to the Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor.

After the visit Mr Hunter said: "It's always a pleasure to meet local school in Parliament and I was pleased to have the opportunity to meet the students and staff of the Covenant Christian School in person.

"I think they found the trip fun as well as informative, they certainly had lots of intelligent and insightful question both throughout the tour and during the question session.

"I would very much encourage any school, local group, or local resident to get in touch and organise to visit Westminster. Parliament plays a very significant role in this country's history and it's future and it's a real experience to see it first hand."

If you are a resident of the Cheadle constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
