Mark presenting the cheque

Local MP Mark Hunter visited the children's play centre Funizuz in Cheadle on Thursday (23rd) to present a cheque for £434.36 raised by Liz Wood and her team to Ruth Jagger of the When You Wish Upon a Star charity.

The childrens' play centre held a fun day during half term on 20th February to raise money for the charity, which aims to grant the 'wishes' of children aged 2 to 16 who are suffering from life threatening illnesses. All those who attended the day had a fantastic time doing a number of activities including face painting, a disco & Karaoke, and painting fridge magnets.

Liz Wood, owner of Funizuz, said: "We chose When You Wish Upon a Star because it's Stockport based and we wanted to support a local charity that focuses on the needs of children". She added: "We'd like to thank everyone for their generosity and for all those who donated fabulous prizes for the raffle".

Ruth Jagger, the Northwest representative of When You Wish Upon a Star, said: "We are so grateful for this donation from Funizuz. Liz and her team did a wonderful job to raise such a large amount of money in one day and in these tough economic times with money scarce, any donations are more than welcome"

Local MP, Mark Hunter, said : "This is such a worthy cause and Liz Wood and her team have done a tremendous job raising such a substantial amount to help When You Wish Upon a Star to continue their excellent work making dreams come true for sick children."
