Mark with Scouts at the launch of the world-wide Jamboree celebrations

Mark Hunter, MP for the Cheadle constituency, was the special guest at the Annual Cheadle and District Scouts 'Renewal of Scout Promise Celebration'.

The celebration took place on Sunday 26th April at Bradshaw Hall School in Cheadle Hulme and included traditional scout games, handicrafts and cooking. It also saw Scout troops from across the area renew their Scout Promise .

Mr Hunter MP said, "I was very pleased to be invited to this special occasion which brought together the different Scout troops from the local area. It was great to see so many Scouts and their families out celebrating in the sunshine.

"The Scouts are an important British institution. Scouting instills excellent values in the young people involved - loyalty, courage, consideration, respect and trustworthiness are all qualities which we would want all young people to have. Scouting teaches valuable skills - not only how to cook over an open fire and tie knots but also how to be careful of others and work in a team.

"As a former Scout myself and a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Scouts, which supports the Scout in Westminster, I know just how valuable the work is of those who volunteer their time and effort to support the Scouts.

"I'm well aware that Scouts are a hugely popular group across our area - just last week I was with the 1st Bramhall Scouts to celebrate their centenary year - it's great that the Scouts are as successful as ever right across our community."
