Local 6th Form visits Parliament

Cheadle and Marple Sixth form came to visit Parliament
Cheadle and Marple Sixth Form College politics students this week visited Parliament and met with Cheadle MP Mark Hunter.
The large group of students toured the Houses of Parliament including the House of Commons and House of Lords, then attended a special question and answer session with Mr Hunter. During the meeting they had the opportunity to ask him questions on any subject from the economy to the EU. After the meeting Mark arranged for the students to have entry into the public gallery to listen to departmental questions and debates in the House of Commons.
Speaking after the visit Mr Hunter said: "It was great to see so many local students in Westminster enjoying all that it has to offer in terms of history and politics. The Houses of Parliament and their history are part of our national heritage and it's excellent that our young people are so interested in learning all about it.
"I really enjoyed meeting the students and their teachers in Westminster and answering all their insightful questions. They asked some very probing question that showed just engaged they are with current affairs and politics. At a time when fewer and fewer young people are voting it's so encouraging to see young adults interested in politics and political processes.
"I really encourage all local schools to bring their students down to Westminster. The Houses of Parliament tour guides are able to adapt the tour for different age groups and whatever age the pupils are, they can really take home an interesting experience."
