Mr Hunter encouages businesses to contact Business Link North West

Help for local businesses was the focus of a special meeting held in Parliament yesterday (Wednesday 4th March) with local Cheadle MP, Mark Hunter and Mr Peter Watson, Managing Director of Business Link North West.

During the meeting Mr Hunter was keen to explore ways, particularly in the current economic climate, that Business Link might be able to support local small and medium sized businesses (SMEs).

Peter Watson explained that Business Link, part of the North West Development Agency (NWDA), offered a number of different services to business customers including such areas as business finance, advice for new and high growth businesses, innovation and efficiency, training and development, international trade and sector development. All these services are available to SMEs which employ less than 250 people and Mr Watson confirmed that in the current economic situation the NWDA are keen to increase their support for local businesses across the region.

Speaking after the meeting Mr Hunter said; "I'm all too well aware that many businesses are finding things tough at the moment and in many cases need help, support and ideas about how to cut costs or branch into new areas.

"Businesses Link North West appear to offer a range of services which could provide much needed advice and assistance - they even supply grants in areas like research and development, training, and efficiency. I would therefore encourage local businesses to contact them directly on 0845 00 66 888, info@businesslinknw.co.uk or via www.businesslink.gov.uk/northwest to find out which services and grants might be available."

If you are a resident of the Cheadle constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
