New voice for Rail Users

Mark has set up a Rail User Group so that local people can have their say about local stations and services
In response to a growing number of complaints about local rail services and the state of some local stations, local MP Mark Hunter is to set up a new Rail Users Group for residents across his Cheadle Constituency.
The group will give a voice and focus to the many concerns already expressed, and hopefully will grow into an important "watchdog" on local rail transport issues. By working together Mr Hunter believes that local rail users can take issues forward to the highest level with all the relevant authorities.
Commenting after announcing his plans, Mr Hunter said: "I'm very aware that there is much dissatisfaction with some of our local rail services and also with the condition of some of our local rail stations. Recently there has been a significant increase in such issues being raised with me and I am determined to do what I can to help.
"At a time when we should be doing all we can to encourage more people to use the trains, some services - and stations - leave much to be desired. Now, instead of just taking up issues on an individual basis, I'm proposing to set up a formal group who can meet on a regular basis to see how we might work together to improve local rail services and stations. The group could be a powerful "watchdog" operation covering all our local stations and providing a forum for all those who wish to see improvements.
"With no less than seven commuter stations - Cheadle Hulme, Gatley, Heald Green, Bramhall, Davenport, Woodsmoor and Hazel Grove - in and around the constituency, a great many local residents are already using the rail network on a regular basis. They are entitled to a better deal and I intend to fight for one!"
Mr Hunter is currently collecting contact detail of those interested in getting involved in the Rail User Group, and an inaugural meeting will follow shortly.
