Alistair Carmichael joined Mark and Helen Foster-Grime at the Burns Supper, where local Piper Colin McNichol played.

Local MP Mark Hunter joined thousands of people worldwide in celebrating the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns last Friday (23rd) at a special event in Bramhall.

Mark was joined by his parliamentary colleague Orkney and Shetland MP Alistair Carmichael, who represents the most northerly constituency in the UK . The evening was started in traditional style as the haggis was paraded in behind local piper Colin McNichol.

Mr Carmichael had travelled to Bramhall to recite the 'Address to a Haggis' in auld scots before a packed hall of over 100 people.

Speaking at the event, Mark said, "It's a testament to the power of Burns's work that 250 years after his birth, hundreds, and even thousands of miles from his home, it can still unite people in celebration. We've all certainly had a brilliant time, and I've no doubt we'll once again be toasting the Immortal Memory of Robert Burns next year!"

If you are a resident of the Cheadle constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
