Mark Hunter visits local businesses in Bramhall Shopping Centre

Mark met the owner of Cheshire Fish in Bramhall
Mark Hunter, MP for the Cheadle constituency met with the shop and business owners and staff of Bramhall Village Square recently to discuss what more can be done to support local businesses.
Mr Hunter made good use of the time before Parliament reassembles by taking a day to meet with, talk to and listen to the owners, staff and customers in Bramhall Village Square (formerly Bramhall Precinct). Mark visited over a dozen shops and businesses including Alexandra Worsley Homeopathy, Cheshire Fish (Fishmongers), Country Fayre (Delicatessen), Button Nose (Children's Clothes), Tiger Feet (Children's Shoes), Howarth's Dry Cleaners, D'Amici (Shoes), Loved (Beauty Salon), Cache (Clothing), The Bubble Room (Restaurant), Indulgence (Coffee Shop), Oxfam (Charity Shop), Garb (Clothing) and The Garden of Eden (Grocers).
At each shop Mr Hunter discussed with their owners and staff the current challenges facing them, how trading was over the Christmas period and what more can be done to support them, improve conditions for local businesses and develop the local economy.
After his visit, Mr Hunter said: "I had a really useful day meeting many of the staff and owners of our local shops, and seeing what business is like from the owner and staff's point of view. It was a good opportunity to talk to many people who work hard to develop and expand our local economy and to hear their own ideas and concerns. Many different and varied issues were raised from businesses rates to parking charges, to how we can work together to encourage more people to choose to shop locally and of course the national economic situation.
Alexandra Worsley told Mark about her successful business.
"There are a great number of really good local shops right across our area and it was encouraging to see many local residents popping in to do their shopping - but we do need to do more to support our local shops. Speaking to customers it's clear that people do appreciate being able to shop locally and it's important that our local shops, businesses and economy continue to thrive, I will therefore continue my work to support local businesses and shops and take forward the many and varied issues and ideas mentioned by the staff and owners throughout the day."
