Mark speaking to people at React about their work

Mark Hunter, MP for Cheadle, joined staff and volunteers of the charity React (Rapid Effective Assistance for Children with potentially Terminal illness) at a special meeting in the House of Commons to learn about their work assisting children with potentially life-limiting conditions.

Last year, React responded to requests from 1,232 families caring for a terminally-ill child and worked in partnership with places like Manchester Children's Hospital but there are many more children living in the local area who need help. Working closely with medical and social care professionals, the charity can provide any specialist, domestic or educational equipment which is considered to be a 'basic, essential need'.

At the event, Mr Hunter pledged his support for React's cause and said: "It is increasingly important that children born with life-limiting illnesses are given support when their families may be struggling to provide the care and specialist help they might need. In this time of economic crisis, charities like these are really suffering and any help that local people can give them is really appreciated. React play a vital role in our community by supporting those who are struggling to look after their terminally-ill children and I congratulate them on all their excellent work."

Vicky Andreas, Director of Client Services at React, says:

"We're delighted to have Mark Hunter's support in our quest to improve the lives of terminally-ill children. Families caring for children living with a life-limiting illness are often not given the necessary assistance they require and community support is vital in helping us to change this."

If you are a resident of the Cheadle constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
