Mark with local volunteers in the revamped shop

MP for Cheadle Mark Hunter paid a visit to the local Sue Ryder Care shop to meet volunteers and congratulate them for their priceless support.

The shop recently went through a refurbishment and it has been re-opened as a specialist music and books shop.

The revamped shop is packed to the rafters with musical instruments, records, CDs and a wide selection of books. And, record players are available for shoppers to listen to their favourite albums before they purchase them. The shop is the first of its kind launched by Sue Ryder Care in a bid to stay ahead of competition on the high street and continue to raise much needed funds to help continue to deliver expert care for people living with conditions including cancer, Huntington's

disease, Multiple Sclerosis and stroke.

Mr Hunter said: "I think it is fantastic that people have a chance to enjoy the pleasure of a nice book or to listen to their favourite tunes without spending a fortune, especially during this cold winter months. I am pleased I had a chance to meet the volunteers whose work contributes to raise vital funds to help the people that need it most. I think nowadays we often forget how important it is to say thank you for the incredible work they do".

All money raised through the Sue Ryder Care shop in Cheadle will help Sue Ryder Care continue to deliver expert and compassionate care for people living with complex neurological and life limiting conditions at the charity's 14 care centres, as well as community based services, across the UK.

Liz Yates, Business Manager for the area, said, "I am delighted that Mark Hunter came along to the shop and met our fantastic volunteers. The shop has just been reopened as a music and books shop and I am sure shoppers will be delighted by the exceptional quality and value of the music, musical instruments and books we are selling".

Liz added, "We are currently recruiting volunteers to help with everything from sorting and preparing stock to merchandising and sales - so I'd like to encourage anybody who has a passion for music and books or would like to gain invaluable work experience to please get in touch.

And, of course, if people have any unwanted books, CDs and records please do donate them to us. By supporting Sue Ryder Care in this way, local people can help us to make a real difference to the lives of the thousands of people we care for each year."
