Local MP welcomes Seashell Trust in Parliament

Mark welcomes new name
Cheadle Constituency MP, Mark Hunter, has this week tabled a special Parliamentary motion which congratulates the Seashell Trust for their work and welcomes their new name and image.
This Early Day Motion (EDM) was tabled after Mr Hunter was invited, as a special guest, to the launch of the new identity of the Royal School for the Deaf in Cheadle Hulme. The charity was founded 185 years ago, but today works not only with children, but also with college-age students and adults, and caters for young people with a wide range of complex needs, not just those who are deaf.
The new name - 'The Seashell Trust' reflects the diversity of the Trust's services, and will oversee three newly named divisions - Royal College Manchester, Royal School Manchester and Adult Services.
Speaking after the motion was tabled Mr Hunter said, "I was honored to be asked to speak at the launch in Cheadle Hulme, and was very happy to put forward this motion in the House of Commons which welcomes the new name and the exciting new future for The Seashell Trust. I am delighted it has quickly gathered support from MPs of all parties.
"With the charity opening its first supported tenancy for adults next year, the time had definitely come for its name to reflect the very wide variety of excellent services that The Seashell Trust provides.
"I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank the staff and volunteers at the Trust who are responsible for its outstanding national and international reputation and whose dedication transforms the lives of the students and adults they work with.
"The Trust has, for 185 years, provided exceptionally high quality education, care and specialist services to individuals with complex learning and communication difficulties, and I know that in their new endeavours they will be equally successful."
