Mark honoured all those who have served in our armed forces on Remembrance Sunday

Marking, the 90th anniversary of the Armistice that ended World War One, on Remembrance Sunday, Cheadle MP Mark Hunter paid tribute to all those who have served in our armed forces, and in particular those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Mr Hunter laid a wreath at the Cheadle Hulme War Memorial early on Sunday morning before joining a Remembrance Sunday service in Cheadle at Trinity Church on Massie Street. Mr Hunter then joined the parade of local veterans and citizens from several local churches to lay a wreath at the war memorial in Cheadle. Afterwards he went on to Heald Green to place a wreath on the war memorial there at their special noon service.

Speaking on Sunday Mr. Hunter said, "It was wonderful to see so many people honoring the sacrifices of those who have given so much to protect our families, our communities, and our country.

"The services and parades were a moving tribute, and we all share a debt of gratitude to those who fought to guarantee the freedoms which we all benefit from today. It is particularly significant that this year, the 90th anniversary of the First World War Armistice, we remember that without the courage of our armed forces this country would be a very different place today.

"In a time of conflict, when since November last year Britain has suffered 44 fatalities in our oversees operations, Remembrance Day is as relevant as ever, as we honor not only those who fought for freedom in the two World Wars, but in all conflicts."

If you are a resident of the Cheadle constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
