Cheadle Constituency MP Mark Hunter was at the Romiley Community Centre on Saturday 11 October to attend the opening of a new bowls club by the Stockport Branch of the Parkinson's Disease Society.

The club was awarded £5,800 to fund the effort by Awards for All, a Lottery grant scheme.

The Mayor of Stockport, Councillor Pam King officially opened the club, which will provide vital exercise and movement for people living with Parkinson's, a degenerative neurological condition affecting movement. Regular exercise has been shown to improve balance, coordination and other movement; skills that people with Parkinson's often have to re-learn.

Mark Hunter MP said, "I'm really pleased that the local Parkinson's Disease Society has received the money to set up a club like this. Ian Anderson and his colleagues do invaluable work for people with Parkinson's and their carers in the local community - and I'm sure this bowling club will be a great resource for them in years to come. Through the PDS local people suffering from Parkinson's can come together and enjoy themselves, and I'll continue to support that in every way I can."

If you are a resident of the Cheadle constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
