Local MP meets with Transport Police

Mark Hunter seeks assurances from British Transport Police over anti-social behaviour
Cheadle MP Mark Hunter this week met with British Transport Police to discuss problems at local railway stations. Mark met with Chief Inspector Mike Sutton and his colleagues to press for action in dealing with anti-social behaviour in and around railway stations
Mr Hunter has several local commuter stations (Bramhall, Cheadle Hulme, Gatley, Heald Green, Hazel Grove and Davenport) in or near his constituency, and is concerned that train users and people living near to stations should not have to tolerate the anti-social behaviour they are so often subjected to.
"There's no doubt that some of our local stations suffer more than others, but I wanted reassurance from the British Transport Police about their response to individual incidents as well as more regular problems. Passengers want to feel safe and secure using trains at any time of day and night, and equally residents living near to stations shouldn't have to put up with gangs of youths causing trouble."
Mr Hunter commented after the meeting that the talks had been useful and the British Transport Police had again promised swift action on any particular problems brought to their attention.
"Mr Sutton assured me that any problems at stations or on trains in our area will be dealt with swiftly - if you've witnessed anti-social behaviour or crime in or around a local station, don't hesitate to call the British Transport police on 0800 40 50 40"
