Local MP congratulates Stockport County FC on reaching Wembley

Stockport County FC's achievement in getting to Wembley for the League Two playoff final (26th May) has not gone unnoticed in the corridors of power. Cheadle MP, Mark Hunter has tabled an Early Day Motion congratulating County and wishing them all the best in their showdown with Rochdale.

The Motion which pays tribute to the hard work, dedication and sporting behaviour of both teams and their fans, is co-sponsored by a colleague of Mr Hunter's, Paul Rowen, the MP for Rochdale!

Speaking just after submitting the motion, Mr. Hunter said, "I'm absolutely delighted by County's success this season, they really have done brilliantly well and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for them at Wembley."

Text of EDM 1603

"That this House salutes the achievement of both Stockport County and Rochdale FC in qualifying for the League Two play-off final at Wembley; recognises the tremendous turnaround in fortunes since the arrival of the teams' respective managers, Jim Gannon and Keith Hill; congratulates the players and fans of both teams for their sporting behaviour throughout the season; believes these clubs embody all that is best about English football; and wishes both clubs well at Wembley."

If you are a resident of the Cheadle constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
