Mark Hunter MP congratulates local primary schools on their recent success in league tables. Five out of the top ten primary schools in the borough come from the Cheadle constituency. Hursthead Junior, Pownall Green Primary, Bolshaw Primary, Lane End Primary, and North Cheshire Jewish Primary, were all in the top five, with Lane End and North Cheshire Jewish Primary achieving joint first place in the league table for the borough.

Mark commented, " I am extremely pleased that five of the top ten primary schools in the borough come from across the Cheadle constituency, it shows how committed the local community is to the importance of good primary education. I must congratulate the teachers, staff, parents and children of all the schools involved for all their hard work and commitment."

"This is, however, no reason for complacency. There is still much work to be done to ensure that the whole of the Stockport borough continues to improve primary school provision. We need to be aware that league tables only tell part of the story in judging the quality of a school. Education is not just passing exams, but is what a child learns both in terms of skills and knowledge inside and outside of the curriculum. Schools should seek to instil a sense of responsibility to the community and respect for each other and the environment. While many of our primary schools are excellent in this area, there is, as always more that can be strived for."

"These results are, however, an excellent start and I would like to reiterate my pride and pleasure at the work of teachers, parents and the community in general for their support of primary schools in Bramhall, Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme, Gatley, Heald Green, Woodford, Hazel Grove and Woodsmoor."

If you are a resident of the Cheadle constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
