Cllr Mark Weldon, Cllr Mark Hunter and Cllr Maggie Clay are working to make our roads safer

There has recently been an accident at the junction of Chester Road with Lyndhurst Avenue and Cavendish Road, when a motorcyclist was seriously injured. Residents have told your ward councillors that this is just one of a series of accidents or 'near misses' that have occurred at this junction over the past few years.

Cllr. Mark Weldon has called for action, saying 'One of the last things Patsy Calton did was to ask the Council to consider improvements here - well before the most recent accident. We must consider options for improving this junction, which is getting more and more busy. Drivers are taking serious risks coming out of Lyndhurst Avenue and Cavendish Road, particularly at peak times. We cannot afford to wait until something really serious happens'.

We want to work with local residents to find a solution, and will make sure there is full consultation on options before any decision is made.

One local resident has suggested a mini roundabout could be the solution, as it would check the speed of traffic on Chester Road and allow vehicles to leave Lyndhurst Avenue and Cavendish Road safely.

If you are a resident of the Cheadle constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
